Blog Post #10

When discussing surveys today in class, I immediately thought of how teacher's could use this in their classroom to get feedback.  I think teacher feedback is very important because a teacher needs to know how their students are reacting to their lessons.  Just as a student can benefit from feedback, so can a teacher.  Something I liked on google forms was the ability to make a survey into a quiz.  I think this a great idea for pre-testing for a new lesson or chapter.  This way it is more informal and really is just used to get a sense of where your students are before starting a certain chapter.  A teacher can then take the results and adjust his/her lesson plan according to how the students responded on the survey.  This can be useful in science, math, or even grammar lessons.

After reviewing my fellow classmates blogs, I really enjoy learning how they plan on using education tools in their future classrooms based on how their past teachers have used the same tools.  For example, going back to last weeks blog post on "The Flipped Classroom Model", I learned a lot based on whether or not a fellow classmate has used this model from the student perspective.  I think it is advantageous to read other student's blogs because I can then understand more about a certain topic based on his/her experiences, just how I add my personal experience to my own blog.  Another topic that I found interesting was when specific questions were asked about what you can improve in on a certain assignment.  For example, specifically on the PowerPoint assignments, I can learn from what other people excel in versus what I may have had difficulty in.

A new skill that I want to learn is how to make videos.  Whether this be through iMovie or PowerDirector, I think it is a very neat skill to have.  I have always been fascinated with how the differences are so clear in a well done video that flows and has good sound quality versus those that are clearly immaturely done.  In the future, making and editing videos can be useful especially in tomorrow's classrooms when distance learning may become more prevalent.  I plan on learning how to master this skill by simply just practicing.  There are so many online resources and tutorials that I can use to start with.  There are also online courses and even courses at FSU.  A lot of people start off with Vlogging or making a montage of their vacation pictures.  I may even do this for my recent trip to Costa Rica.
